Running a tournament very soon with 64 players.
Its gonna be a No Limit texas hold'em with 1 rebuy and 1 add on.
Have limited time starts at 7:00 and must finish by 12:30.
What does any one recommend for blind lengths, starting chips stack etc. Would appreciate any input.
Hi Jim, I'm not to sure what to recommend really but if you play with longer blind lengths the game would be more stable as the blinds aren't jumping around all the time.
Friend of mine runs a monthly No Limit Hold'em tournament. We usually have 30-34 players. Play starts at 7:30, players get 1000 in chips, no re-buys. Blinds start at 5-10 and go up every 15 minutes: blind schedule is online at http://poker.claygump.com/Home/blinds.
With one 15-minute break in the middle, the tourney usually ends around midnight. Given that your tournament is going to have twice as many people and include a buy-in and add-on, I think it's going to be tough for you to get your tourney finished that quickly.
Thanks for the comments.
The Blind lengths i had thought of using are 25 minutes for the first 3 level, which will be when the rebuy and add on ends. There will then be a twenty minute break.
The starting stack i have thought about using will be 4000, with the small blind and big blind starting at 25- 50. This will give people a reasonable starting stack of 80 * the big blind.
See what you mean about the extra rebuys though, should i limit the rebuy and add on chips to only half the original starting stack?
From the 4th round onwards the length will be 20 minutes.
I figure that if it gets to slow or to fast i can either shorten or lengthen the rounds or even miss a round out if i need to.
I have also found that getting people to play quicker is sometimes a problem so was thinking about giving each player only 2 minutes to act and then putting the clock on them.
If you double the blinds at each level (25-50, 50-100, 100-200), maybe you can pull it off. It's really hard to say, given the differences between your tournament setup and the one I play in. 4,000 in chips x 64 players= lots of chips in play.
We don't have a problem with the quickness of play: it's very rare for anyone to take more than a minute to make their decision.
